Harrisonville High School Students of the Month for September

The Harrisonville High School Students of the Month for September are Audrey Coffey and Simon Claxton. Coffey and Claxton were nominated by the high school staff for this award.

Coffey is the daughter of John and Laura Coffey.
She is involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, First Priority, Music Makers, soccer, and DECA.

She is the Student Body President, NHS Vice President, FCA and First Priority Student Leader, Music Makers Dance Captain, and boys’ soccer manager.

She is an AP Scholar Award recipient and a member of the ACT Hall of Fame. She earned 2nd team All-District and All-Conference honors in soccer, and is a two-time DECA International Qualifier.

She is also in her second year as a district communications intern. Outside of school, Coffey is involved in church and youth groups. She enjoys playing soccer, spending time with family and friends. After high school, Coffey plans to attend a four-year college to earn a degree in the business/marketing field.

Simon Claxton is the son of Adam and Jenny Claxton. He is involved in Music Makers, National Honor Society, Student Council, Prayer Group, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, First Priority, and Wildcat Network.

He is the President of Music Makers, President of NHS, Student Body Vice President, and he’s a Student Leader for prayer group, FCA, and First Priority. He is also serving as a district communications intern.

Claxton has been in the top 10% of his class for three years, earned principal's honor roll for three years, has maintained a GPA of 4.0 or higher for four years, is a two year recipient of the AP Scholars award, and is in the ACT Hall of Fame. He has earned four superior ratings and three exemplary ratings at state vocal solo and small ensemble competitions, is a two-time All-State show choir member, has earned a letter in varsity show choir for three years, and earned baseball Academic All-Conference for one year.

Outside of school, he is involved in his church and youth group where he plays guitar for the praise band and helps to lead youth events. He also loves to do service projects and community outreach events as well as fellowship with his church family.

Claxton is currently taking online classes at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he plans to attend next fall and enroll in the five-year Accelerate Program. He plans to earn a Bachelors in Biblical Theology and a Masters in Divinity with the goal of becoming a pastor at a local church.

“I am also excited to become a loving and faithful husband and father and plan to have lots of kids! Most of all, I want to pursue God's plan for my life as I seek to be satisfied in him and do his will.”

The HHS Students of the Month are selected on the basis of character, citizenship, and academics.
