The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and La Cygne Police Department are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a one-year-old from La Cygne.
On Wednesday, Sept. 11, at approximately 5 p.m., the La Cygne Police Department received a call reporting an unresponsive toddler in her home at 502 E Sycamore St. First responders provided lifesaving measures, and the child was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The La Cygne Police Department requested KBI assistance and KBI agents responded.
An autopsy was conducted on Friday, Sept. 12. The results of autopsy were undetermined, and are pending additional testing and the final autopsy report.
Death investigations may be determined to be the result of a homicide, suicide, natural causes, or an accident. The investigation is ongoing.
