Cal was born August 27, 1959, to Robert Emmett Cain, Jr. and Evelyn Adine (Conger) Althaus in Ottumwa, IA. He grew up in Independence, Iowa, with his 5 siblings. He left high school and married Jeannie Gnade in 1978 and to this union had 3 daughters: Candy, Felicia and Sherri.
He devoted his life to providing for his three girls. He eventually moved to Shawnee, KS, with his family and he opened a shop in Merriam, KS. Cal was a mechanic at different dealerships but mostly ran his own shop until he retired. Cal loved anything motors so much that you would find him working on them even when he was not at work. If he was not working on cars, he would watch or attend NASCAR races. He also had a love for John Deere tractors and loved mowing and tending to his yard and even his daughters' yard. Cal was also a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and loved cheering them on. He met Brenda Chudzick in 2018, and she moved to Adrian, MO, in 2020 to be with him. He loved spending time and living life with her. Every day they would take driving trips down gravel roads and enjoy the scenery together.
Cal is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Charlene Cain. He is survived by his daughters: Candy (Derrick) Lang of Adrian, MO; Felicia Cain of Adrian, MO; and Sherri (Chazz) Essex of Olathe, KS; grandchildren: Christian Toth, Dakota Lee Vanderpool, Alexander Lee Vanderpool, Nani LeeAnn Vanderpool, and Harmony Marie Lang; brothers, John and Bryan Cain; sisters: Adine Gray, LuAnn Beck, and Ivola Hibben; several nephew and nieces; and his significant other, Brenda Chudzik.
