Crews began replacement of the roof at the Bates County Courthouse this week and seem to be making quick work of it by taking advantage of clear skies. According to Presiding Commissioner Jim Wheatley, the new shingles come with a reassuring warranty that should cover any issues for many decades to come and with that, some portions of the decking will be replaced along with new tar paper throughout. The $195,000 project is expected to be completed by next week barring unforeseen weather delays. -Staff photo
