David Paul Roggensees, 57, Hume, MO passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at his home in Hume. David was born August 25, 1967, at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH to Douglas Leo and Geraldine Ruth (Noel) Roggensees.
David graduated from Bronaugh R-7 High School in 1985. He attended MSSU in Joplin where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree of Arts in History, followed by his master’s degree from MSU in Springfield. He worked for 20 plus years in Missouri’s State Parks. David taught high school history at several area schools including Lakeland High School in Deepwater, MO, and Greenfield High School in Greenfield, MO, and most recently Hume High School in Hume, MO. Outside of his love for history, he was also dedicated to helping his community where he served as an alderman for many years. David was a member of the Missouri Historical Society and the Holmes Brigade, and most importantly of all, David has an immense love for God. His faith was central to everything in his life, and it was his source of joy. He cherished his church community wherever he was at. This was especially true for his time at Wesley United Methodist Church in Springfield, MO where he was a member for many years.
Survivors include his children, Benjamin Roggensees and his wife Madison Roggensees, and Olivia Roggensees, all of Springfield, MO; three brothers, Donald (Pam) Roggensees, San Diego, CA, Bob Roggensees, Moundville, MO, and Keith Roggensees, Moundville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Barton City Cemetery, Liberal, MO. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
