Patrick (Pat) Dirk Bernard was born on March 15, 1967 the youngest son of William H and Adele A Bernard at Wetzel Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. Pat was a life-long resident of Clinton graduating from Clinton High School in 1985. In Pat’s earlier years he developed a passion for sports. He was involved in bowling leagues for many years, baseball, volleyball, golf and was a letterman in high school playing tennis and basketball. Another of Pat’s passions was music. He played saxophone during his school years and upon graduating was selected to join international musical group Up With People, in which he also played sax. His cast traveled for a year both throughout the US and internationally to Scandinavia.

Upon Pat’s return from UWP, he would join his father Bill in the family business Bernard’s Glass & Radiator. Pat eventually took over ownership upon Bill’s retirement. The business started by Pat’s grandfather, had been an important part of the community for over 50 years. Unfortunately, because of his health at the time the store was forced to close. It was then that Pat was employed by Walmart for almost 9 years as a full-time associate and worked in several departments until his death.

Pat was a loyal friend to many and a stranger to few. He was immediately likable and would do anything for a friend in need. He had a wonderful sense of humor, which he inherited from his father. He relished being a bit of a rebel at times and had an adventurous spirit. In “truth or dare”, he would always take the dare. He loved hid dogs and enjoyed watching NASCAR, Chiefs, and Royals. He was married to Jill (Slocum) Bernard for 17 years until their divorce in 2018. Pat in his later years met the love of his life Barbara Harlow, his girlfriend of 6 years, they were inseparable from that moment forward. Pat was like a father to Barbara’s adopted grandchildren and three adult children. Pat spent time in each area of their lives and loved every minute.

He is preceded in death by his father, William (Bill) Bernard.

Pat is survived by his mother, Adele Bernard of Clinton, brother Scott (Stacy) Bernard of Clinton, former wife Jill Bernard of Clinton, and his girlfriend Barbara Harlow and her children he was known as father, Rexlee, Brookelynn, Abryelle, Zaylee, and Lane, Stephen, Ricky and Kristina.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
