Obituary - Shari Lynn Lindsay

Shari Lynn Lindsay, age 58, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home with Rick by her side on Friday, October 11, 2024.

Services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Peculiar United Methodist Church, 20521 S. School Rd., Peculiar, Missouri 64078. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. followed by the celebration of her life at 2:00. Following the service, Shari will be laid to rest at Belton Cemetery.

Shari was born in Prairie Village, Kansas on January 1, 1966 to Wilmoth “Bill” and Mary Kathryn "Mary Kay" (Connors) Dorrell. Shari graduated high school from Shawnee Mission East. Shari briefly continued her education before starting her 26-year career working for Marion Labs and as well as the subsequent companies. In 1996, Shari met Rick Newkirk, the love of her life. Shari and Rick went on to spend the next 28 years together.

Shari was a woman of Christian belief and faithfully attended the Peculiar United Methodist Church. She loved greeting card design, rubber stamping, crafting, gardening, archery, bowling, fishing, baking, painting, the Chiefs and the Royals. One of her favorite pastimes was watching the wildlife nibbling on the food she provided and visits from the neighborhood children and dogs. Through her faith, Shari enjoyed being of service to others. Along with her Mom, she was a longtime member of the Association for Family and Community Education (FCE) as well as multiple other organizations and clubs.

Shari was preceded in death by both of her parents, Bill and Mary Kay Dorrell. She is survived by her life partner Rick Newkirk, stepmother Marsha Dorrell, her step-brothers, Dan Dodge and Rusty Dodge a step-sister, Tina Kimball and her best friend in life, Jeanne Loudermilk and countless friends.

Shari will be laid to rest, alongside her Mom at the Belton Cemetery. with the assistance of Rodney Newkirk, Rodney Newkirk, Jr., Robby Newkirk, Justin Newkirk, Mark Newkirk and Tyler Conran who will act as her Pallbearers.
