Information developed early in this investigation led to the identity of the shooter as being 25-year-old Kevin J. Hukill. Investigation into the possible location of Mr. Hukill’s whereabouts led law enforcement to a residence in the 300 block of East Park Street in Pittsburg.
Attempts to contact the occupants of the residence were unsuccessful. A search warrant was obtained and entry into the residence was made, and after a thorough search, Mr. Hukill was located in the attic. Successful negotiations by a Pittsburg Police negotiator led to Mr. Hukill surrendering and being taken into custody at 5:33 AM, Thursday morning.
Mr. Hukill was arrested for one count of murder in the 2nd degree, felony interference with law enforcement, felon in possession of a firearm and a Crawford County felony arrest warrant, for failing to appear on a previous drug charge. Mr. Hukill was transported to the Crawford County Jail, and he is currently being held without bond.
Mr. Hukill is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
