Arrest made at Smoker Friendly in Butler

On 11/03/2024, Butler Officers were dispatched to Smoker Friendly in reference to suspicious activity. While Officers were on scene outside of Smoker Friendly, an employee came outside and stated “He needs to leave” as James Carroll was walking out of the store. The employee then advised officers that Carroll attempted to hand “stuff” to her inside of a cigarette pack. 

The Officers observed a crushed cigarette pack in Carroll’s hand that he then dropped on the ground. An Officer picked the cigarette pack up and observed a bag inside of it containing a white crystalline substance that later field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Carroll was then then placed in custody for possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Bates County Jail.

On 11/04/2024 a warrant was issued for Carroll with the following charge: Possession of a Controlled Substance with a bond assigned of $10,000 Cash or Surety.
