Belton, MO — November 1, 2024 – The Belton Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is proud to announce the successful federal sentencing of Randolph McCallop.
McCallop, a convicted felon with a substantial criminal history, was sentenced on November 1, 2024, to 48 months in federal prison after stealing 600 rounds of ammunition from a retailer in Belton, Missouri. This incident was pursued for federal prosecution thanks to the hard work of the Belton Criminal Investigations Division and the crucial support of the ATF.
The investigation began on August 1, 2023, when Belton officers responded to a reported larceny in progress at a local retailer. A female subject was observed attempting to remove shoes without payment, while a male companion—later identified as McCallop—was also present. Upon arrival, officers observed the two subjects engaging in suspicious behavior, including attempting to return items without a receipt. The total value of the attempted theft was $1,153.96.
After consultation with the ATF, this case was presented for federal prosecution due to McCallop’s serious criminal history and the nature of the offense. There were many man-hours and a collaborative effort to get this dangerous person off the streets.
This sentencing serves as a testament to the commitment of the Belton Police Department and its partners to ensure public safety and uphold the law. We are grateful for the efforts of our dedicated police officers, our CID team, and the support of the ATF in bringing this case to a successful conclusion.
