The Butler Bears football team traveled to take on the Sherwood Marksmen tonight in the first round of district high school football.
Butler would lead the contest at halftime by a score of 16-6 after holding Sherwood out of the end zone from the 6 yard line to end the half.
Sherwood would get the ball to start the 2nd half however they would lose the ball on a fumble recovered by Sophomore Chris Castro deep in their own territory. Butler would capitalize with a 6 yard rushing touchdown by Junior QB Kellen Long pushing the lead to 22-6 Butler.
Butler would cruise to a 42-6 win over Sherwood and they will move to 6-4 on the season. Sherwood will finish the season with a record of 5-5. The bears will now hit the road again and move on to play the Pembroke Hill Raiders (9-0) next Friday.
