Obituary - Larry Neal Warden

Larry Neal Warden, age 86, of Raymore, Missouri passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at the Benton House of Raymore, Missouri.

Services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Cullen Funeral Home, Inc., 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. with a short time of sharing by the family at 2:30 p.m. Burial to follow at Raymore Cemetery, Raymore, Missouri.

Larry was born in Wasola, Missouri on May 2, 1938, the son of Mark Leland Warden and Hattie Jane Hicks. He graduated from Ava High School in 1956 and then went on to attend School of the Ozarks Junior College, graduating in 1958. He received his B.S. in Education from Southwest Missouri State University (SMSU) in 1960. While attending SMSU, he met Evelyn Faye Chapman. They were married on August 21, 1960, and later blessed with two children, Richard and Terri. Larry furthered his education and received his M.A. in Educational Administration from UMKC in 1971. He worked as a mathematics teacher for 30 years in the Raytown School District. 

In addition to teaching, Larry worked as a construction laborer, construction sub-contractor, custom woodworker, and truck driver. After retirement, he bought and sold pianos and enjoyed caring for his acreage. He attended First Baptist Church of Raymore and, in the last few years, First Baptist Church of Peculiar. Larry cherished his wife and was very proud of his children and grandson.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Hattie Warden; his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Evelyn Warden; four brothers, Leland, Glen, Dwain, and Donald Warden; and one sister, June Shaull.

He is survived by his two children, Richard “Rick” Warden (Melissa) and Terri Petersen (Doug); brother, Norman Warden (Debbie); and grandson, Joel Miles.
