Update: Amoret man seriously injured after his vehicle was struck by a train

On Saturday November 9th around 1:35 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies and Bates County EMS responded to an accident involving a train and a truck near NW CR 3002 just west of Route Y.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Dodge Dakota driven by a 41 year old male from Amoret, Missouri failed to yield to a 2014 Electromotive Diesel Locomotive driven by a 37 year old male of Pittsburg, Kansas and was struck on the passenger side. Both vehicles came to a controlled stop approximately 1 mile South of the crash scene.

The 41 year old adult male sustained serious injuries and was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Due to a recent change in how the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports accidents we no longer will receive names of those involved in crashes.
