Be aware of ice danger

The recent tragedy involving two children in Linn County Kansas has prompted local fire departments to urge everyone to be careful around frozen lakes and ponds. According to data by the National Weather Service, although our recent weather cycles have been cold, they have not been nearly cold enough for ground and water temperatures to support ice thick enough to walk on.

Fortunately, any remaining ice will likely disappear over the next week as temps will be close to 60 on Sunday with daytime highs ranging in the upper 40's and 50's otherwise.

With that, be aware of large ice and snow formations on buildings as temps go up. Falling debris may weigh more than you realize.
