8 more Quilts of Valor awarded

Richard Wyrick, Sam Stout, Jim Short and William Blackmore

It was a very special Veteran's breakfast presented by
Good Shepherd Hospice at Happy Hill Church in Butler on Friday as the staff of Rocking Chair Quilts presented 8 more Quilts of Valor to local veterans in honor of their service.

Rocking Chair Quilts owner Marsha Youngblood says the shop is "busy, busy" and this presentation brings the local total of QOV to 23 since the first quilt was given last August. With that, there are some 30 quilts in process with a long term goal of presenting 8-10 per month.

All labor is 100% donated and any businesses or individuals who would like to donate for supplies should contact Marsha directly at the shop on the east side of the Butler square or call 660-200-2226.

Likewise,  if you know a veteran you would like to nominate, please contact her as well.

Nationwide, the Quilts of Valor program has presented nearly 400,000 such quilts in their existence and more every day. The QOV program was founded in 2003 by Catherine Roberts whose son Nat was deployed in Iraq and more information can be found at https://www.qovf.org/

Emil Schwander, Walter Wright, William 'Doc' Haynie and Dennis Petty
