Butler man accused of rape pleads not guilty today

According to a complaint filed by Bates County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Cody L. Johnson, on or about April 20, 2025 Rowdy Kane Summerlin 41, of Butler knowingly had sexual intercourse with an intoxicated person without consent.

According to the court docket, Summerlin, who is represented by Special Public Defender Stephen Chase Higinbotham Jr. entered a plea of not guilty today in the Bates County Circuit Court before Judge Julie Highley.

Summerlin is currently being held in the Bates County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond with a charge of 1st Degree Rape as a motion of discovery has been filed.
