From Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson

From the desk of Sheriff Anderson:

Yesterday I, along with several command staff members, spent the morning in Jefferson City to support SJR40. This is an initiative that will allow voters to consider making the Office of Sheriff a constitutional Sheriff. Meaning that Missouri Constitution will read that the Office of Sheriff is a Constitutional Sheriff and no law passed may allow the elemination of the elected Office of Sheriff.
The passed couple of weeks we have made several trips to support legislation at the Capitol. We have been there to support a legislative fix for the Sheriffs Retirement System. Having a retirement system will help to retain and recruit good quality Sheriffs now and in the future. A fix to the system will also ensure funding for the currently retired Sheriffs and any surviving spouses currently on the system.
I would like to say Thank you to our Elected Officials who travel to Jefferson City to represent our voice in the Capital. Senator Rick Brattin, State Representative Sherri Gallick and Representative Dane Diehl.
Thank you for supporting the Office of Sheriff and all Sheriffs across the State.
Sheriff Chad Anderson
