1862 Confederate sympathizers hold a rally in Butler. There are several personal battles, some injuries but no fatalities.
1892 The first graduating class of Hume School, 7 total, get their diplomas.
1902 Members of the Foster Band are constructing a bandstand over the public well.
1908 A deadly hailstorm in the Pleasant Gap community piles the ice 16 inches deep.
1933 More reddish Kansas dust rolls into Bates Co. To be out very long, people have to wear masks on their faces.
1934 Butler's new bank, The First National Bank, opens in the old Farmer's Bank location, North end of the East side of the square.
1942 It's announced the Hill Road Show will present its dime movies every Thursday in Amsterdam during the Summer.
1992 The Adrian boys & girls track teams easily out-distance the rest of the Butler relays.
2000 An early morning fire guts the building of the Adrian Meats Co, Mr and Mrs Pat Oates & family are owners.
