Obituary - Donna Brownsberger

Donna Rose (Hake) Brownsberger, daughter of Joseph and Veronica (Richter) Hake was born August 2, 1944, in Appleton City, Missouri.  She passed away on May 8, 2025 at the age of 80.

        Donna grew up on a farm in Germantown, Missouri.  She attended school in Germantown and later Montrose.  She enjoyed living on the farm and being around animals.  After moving to Montrose, she helped at her mom’s cafĂ© called Fern’s.  She later waited tables at Denny’s, drove an Oat’s bus and worked at the G & G grocery store.  Donna drove a bus for the Montrose school and St. Mary’s Catholic School, and she loved interacting with the kids, especially teenagers, while driving them to school and events.  

        Donna married Sam Brownsberger on September 21, 1963, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri.

        She enjoyed playing the penny slots at the Casino and would ride a bus with friends to Oklahoma to play Bingo.  She loved spending time with her grandkids and cared about all animals but especially dogs and cats.  Donna had many phone numbers for sharing and receiving information, and finding out the town gossip.

        Donna was a good cook and made the best fried chicken although she didn’t really like to cook.

        Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Veronica Hake; and siblings:  Dorothy Cook (Howard); Bob Hake; Jim Hake and Dick Hake.  Survivors include her husband, Sam Brownsberger; daughter Shannon Cook (Chris); son Shawn Brownsberger (Sandra); grandchildren,: Aaron Cook (Connie), Garret Cook (Jeanine), Corey Brownsberger (Kristie) and Eric Brownsberger (Morgan); great-grandchildren, Nicole, Layla, and Caleb, Kristal (Tshon), Lance, Kennedy and Carter; great-great-granddaughter Daleyza; siblings, Todd Hake (Cora), Eddie Hake (Joanne), and Margie Bramell (Dick - deceased).

 Donna's wishes were for any memorial donations be made to the Clinton Animal Shelter and may be left at Hill & Son Funeral Home.
