Donald Edward McEwan, son of Warren and Armilda (Willems) McEwan, and twin brother to the late Ronald Edward McEwan, was born December 4, 1942 in Rockville, Missouri. He passed away in Belton, Missouri June 12, 2025 at the age of 82.
Don grew up in Appleton City, Missouri graduating from Appleton City High School in 1961. He relocated to Abilene, Texas where he was employed as a pilot for FedEx for 25 years. He moved back to Appleton City after his retirement where he became a member of the Masonic Lodge 412 AF & AM and a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and Pathfinders Sunday school class.
Woodworking and cabinetmaking were hobbies Don enjoyed. He had a green thumb also enjoyed gardening. Don was a giving, warm-hearted man with a great sense of humor. He always dressed nicely and was fun to be around. He always told great stories and often shared tales of his days as an airline pilot for FedEx. Don had a strong love of country and was a faithful in his Christian walk. He loved his family and favorite pastime was having coffee with his buddies at Ellett Hospital and catching up on all the latest and local gossip.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Warren and Armilda McEwan and twin brother, Ron McEwan. He is survived by his children, Julie Lyons and husband Scott of Belton, Missouri and Jason McEwan of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; also surviving are Don’s grandchildren, Max, Miles and Gracie Lyons.
Don will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
