Syringe in plain sight leads to arrest

On June 10th, 2025 Officers with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and Nevada Police Department conducted a traffic stop. Which led to the arrest of Joshua Byram age 43 of Nevada, MO.

During the course of the stop, as Byram exited the vehicle, deputies and officers discovered a loaded syringe protruding from the driver’s door. Recognizing the potential for illegal substances, deputies proceeded with a probable cause search of the vehicle. This search uncovered over 125 grams of methamphetamines believed to be intended for distribution.
Charges have been filed against Joshua Byram by the Vernon County Prosecutor.
Charge: Trafficking Drugs - 2nd Degree
Warrant Number: 25VE-CR00289
BOND: Capias NO BOND
Sheriff Buehler stated, “This traffic stop highlights the vigilance and dedication of our deputies in keeping our community safe. The presence of methamphetamine on our streets is a serious concern, and we are committed to combating drug trafficking in Vernon County.”
