Harrisonville police continue battle with card skimmers

We have had multiple additional skimmers located at multiple gas stations here in Harrisonville since our last post. We recovered one of them yesterday and wanted to provide photographs of what they look like so you can see how realistic some look. The mechanism on the inside stores every card number that is swiped and the scammers will often leave them in a pump for weeks at a time to get more numbers. They also don't always have to come back for them. They can have wireless capabilities installed where they can obtain the scanned card numbers from another location.
This style shown has the exterior card slot built in, but like we said, some just go completely inside the existing card slot.
We would strongly suggest using tap pay at any gas pump, ATM, etc. If you must use the card slot, it is better to use a credit card versus a debit card because you can contest fraudulent charges on a credit card.

If you want zero chance of being scammed, you can always go inside the store and use old faithful, cold hard American cash.
