Frankie-Lee Griggs, daughter of mail carrier Frank Griggs and Lillian Bremer, who published her first story in the AC Journal when she was 12 years old. She went on to become a best selling author and the A.C. library has a collection of many of her novels. Among unpublished manuscripts is a collection of nine historical fiction short stories and a novelette titled “Everyday Loves” by Saliee O’Brien, her pseudonym. The stories include a biographical story about Frank Griggs and his mail route when Frankie-Lee was celebrating her 2nd birthday. One story features ACHS and the annual Junior-Senior Banquet. This story is dedicated to the high school and the class of 1926. AC readers will likely recognize many local names used in the stories. Phoebe Caton is a character in two stories. Frankie-Lee’s grandson, Thurlow B. Weed IV, has published this collection, called Stories from the Heartland by Saliee O’Brien.
