Stolen car recovered; juveniles arrested

In the early morning hours of October 6th, we received a call about a car that had just been stolen on the south end of town. Officers had been doing extra patrols in this area due to all the thefts from vehicles that had been occurring recently. The stolen car was quickly located in the area and a pursuit ensued. The driver of the stolen car eventually crashed, and the two occupants were arrested. A third occupant had exited the vehicle during the pursuit and was also arrested. Located inside the stolen vehicle was a stolen firearm from a different vehicle in the area. All three people who were arrested are local juveniles, so their identity cannot be released.

At this point in the investigation, we believe this group is responsible for the recent thefts that have occurred from vehicles in the neighborhoods near South Street and Independence Street. However, some of those thefts were not caught on video and had no witnesses so there may be other people involved.

Please remain vigilant about locking your cars, keeping them in a safe place, and securing your valuables.
