Herrman’s Historical Happenings week of November 26

1821 10 cabins have been completed at the settlement at Harmony Mission.

1870 The town plat of Rockville is recorded, having been laid out by Mr. Hardesty in 1868.

1880 The Hume post office opens, but the village will be known as Howard for a few more months.

1885 George Burch, on trial for horse stealing in Butler, is acquitted as it is established he's not in his right mind.

1936 Chan Calloway fractures both legs when he falls some 40 feet from the Haymaker Bridge while making repairs. He splinters both ankles.

1951 Now showing at the NU-SHO theater "Little Egypt" in color starring Mark Stevens, plus cartoon and news reels. Butler.

1966 Ron Minton, announcer for KMAM radio station in Butler, is badly burned when a small heater explodes.

1993 84 grandparents attend Grandparents Day at the Ballard school.

1999 The Rich Hill Tigers are the Missouri State 1A football champions, defeating the Santa Fe Chiefs 15-7 to win the 32nd Show-Me bowl in St. Louis.
