Obituary - Billy Penn

Billy Wayne Penn, Sr, 68 of Linn Valley, Ks passed away on December 21, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. Cremation, with private family services to be held at a later. Arrangements entrusted to Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (816-657-4400). Memorial contributions may be made to the charity or donor’s choice. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

Billy was born in Paola, Kansas and spent most of his life in Miami County. He served four years in the Army Reserves. He worked as a welder for many years. Along with his love for working on cars in his spare time, he also loved stock car racing in Adrian, Missouri. For years his dream was to win all three races in one night, and he did just that. He loved animals and would nurse wild animals back to health, releasing them when they were well.

He also enjoyed taking his 4 dachshunds and racoon for rides in his limousine until they passed away. He also loved attending the Missouri State Fair every year as a family tradition.

While Billy was sick, he converted his handicap bus into a camper and was so proud of it. He enjoyed camping and being outside. His legacy is one of quiet strength and deep love for family, always ready for a good story, whether true or not and a hearty laugh.

Billy never liked to see anyone cry, so his wish to be cremated and have no services was granted. We will always remember his big heart and the jokester he was. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest easy Wild Bill. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Good Shepherd Hospice for their excellent care.

Billy Is preceded in death by his daughter Lacey Danielle and parents, Bob and Elise Penn. He leaves behind his wife of 29 years; Annetta Penn, children; Bryan (Candy), Billy Jr (Brianna), Dustin, Caley, Lexie and Shelbey, step-son; Chris (Tommi), ten grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, six step-great grandchildren, two brothers; Bobby and Scotty Penn, one sister; Kathy Johnson, and by his buddy “Sammy” a multi-colored cockapoo.
