Darrell grew up in Rich Hill, Missouri before making Butler his lifelong home, where he built a life rooted in faith, family and hard work.
Darrell devoted 25 years of service to MFA where his dedication, loyalty, and steady work ethic earned him the respect and friendship of those around him. After his time with MFA, he continued serving his community through his work at the Bates County Jail, being known for his honesty, calm presence, and reliability.

Darrell's faith was the foundation of his life. Baptized at the age of 9, he carried a deep unwavering belief in God throughout every chapter of his life's journey. He was a member of Double Branch Christian Church where he was known for his role as Santa Claus at many a Christmas program. Darrell had a lifelong love for anything with an engine–whether cars, trucks, motorcycles or machinery–if it rumbled or roared, it sparked joy in his heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debra; his sister, Beverly Sullins; and many nieces and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Darrell will be remembered for his generous spirit, gentle humor, and the steady way he supported and cared for the people in his life.
Darrell's life beautifully reflected the word of 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." His legacy of love, integrity, and faithfulness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him
