BCSO releases details following water rescue this morning

Water Rescue in Western Bates County.

At approximately 12:05 today Bates County Sheriff’s Offie recieved a 911 call in reference to a man who fell in a pond on County Road 9001. Deputies, Butler Fire and EMS were dispatched for the rescue.
On arrival the Deputies observed a male who was submerged in the pond to his mid chest. His truck was next to the pond where he was attempting to get his calf out of the water when he fell through the ice. A Butler Fireman arrived in is personal vehicle and together they utilized his chain and bale bed to secure the male from sinking any further. They then used the bale bed and chain to lift the subject high enough to pull him the rest of the way out of the water. The male subject was then put in a cop car and taken up to his house where he met with EMS.
The story doesn’t end there. Deputies along with Butler Firemen then began to work on rescuing the remaining calf from the pond. Once that was done, they came together to get the subject’s truck out of the mud and up to the house. The calf was then loaded in Sheriff Anderson’s patrol truck and taken to a neighbors house where he had a warming area prepared to get the calf warmed up.
“This is an exceptional rescue to save a life” says Sheriff Anderson. “Multiple agencies coming together to not just rescue the subject but to go above and beyond for a neighbor who needed help. I wish the public could see the teamwork the way I get to see it. Everyday my staff and other emergency personnel continue to selflessly serve our community above and beyond what is expected.”
