We have received a report that someone is calling citizens and identifying themselves as a member of the Harrisonville Police Department. The scammer is relaying identifying information to the person (address) in an attempt to make the person believe they are an officer and the call is legitimate. The scammer then told a story about missed jury duty, which would have probably led to trying to obtain more information if the person they tried to scam had fallen for it. Please continue to be vigilant with phone and internet scams. If one of our officers calls you, you can always ask to call the police department directly to make sure you know who you are speaking with. Thank you!
