Obituary - Garland Duane Koehn

My husband, our father, grandpa and great grandpa was born on September 20, 1940 to Glenn and Luella Johnson Koehn in McPherson, Kansas. He peacefully left us for his eternal reward Monday evening January 12, 2026 surrounded by his family in the living room of their apartment at Bethel Home. He reached the age of 85 years old.

He spent the first 27 years of his life in McPherson county Kansas and received his education at Liberty school house. He was baptized February 3, 1953 by Abe D. Koehn into the Lone Tree Mennonite Church. On July 31, 1960 Garland was united in marriage to Faylene Becker in the Lone Tree Mennonite church. Life was full with many good years. We were thankful to have celebrated our 65th anniversary last July. We enjoyed 57 years at Walker Congregation.

At the age of 16 he began plumbing with his uncle until in 1968 an opportunity opened up for him to have his own farm near Walker, Missouri. While farming he also started to dairy. He had many young men work for him through this time. Garland was not a man that was afraid of work, whatever needed to be done he was there to do it. Garland was the second child of seven boys and they enjoyed each other's company very much; some of them communicating every day.

His life has been filled with service starting with 1W service at KU Medical Center from 1963-1965. One highlight for him was his time giving to the Conference CDR projects and traveling to numerous different countries, making many friends.

Those left to cherish the memories include his wife, Faylene of Montezuma, one daughter, Angela and husband Eugene of Montezuma; one granddaughter, Danella Koehn (Sheldon) of Scooba, MS. two grandsons, Jarryd Koehn (Jessica) of Walker, Missouri. and Jarryl Koehn (Kandace) of Potlatch, Idaho. Great grandchildren: Jaymen, Jaxon, Shania, LaShondra, Acelyn, Ivy, and Daisy. Six siblings: Ronald Delores) Moundridge, KS; Linwood (Pauline) Fredonia,KS; David (Carolee) Moundridge, Ks; Calvin (Norma) Moundridge, KS; Sister in law Linda Koehn Hiawatha, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Gary and Glen Allen and sister in law Mavis Koehn.
