Obituary - Raymond Hunt

Raymond Leroy Hunt, 81, Nevada, MO, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Raymond was born January 29, 1945, in Kansas City, KS to James Lee and June Maxine (Root) Hunt. He married Peggy Willson on January 18, 1964, in the Metz Methodist Church and she survives of the home.

Raymond was raised in Horton, MO and attended school in Metz up until his senior year. His parents moved to Blue Springs where he graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1963. Following high school, he began working for Schooley Printing and continued working in the printing industry in the Kansas City area for the next 30 years. After his retirement he moved back to Nevada in 2001. Raymond continued to work during his retirement at O’Sullivan’s, Orscheln’s, and repaired clocks. Raymond loved attending his grandchildren’s activities and also loved watching the Royals, Chiefs, and KU sports. In his younger years he loved to deer hunt and go camping and water skiing with his family. He was a member of Metz Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife Peggy, he is survived by two children, Carolyn Compton (Mike), Sheldon, Tim Hunt (Rebecca), Grain Valley, MO; three grandchildren, Morgan Heard (Mason), Sheldon, Lane Compton, Sheldon, and Wil Hunt (Natalie), Lee’s Summit, MO; a great-grandson, Briggs Heard; a brother, Carl Hunt (Alicia), Oak Grove, MO; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson Corbin Wyss.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Bob Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel Cemetery in Walker. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
