At approximately 11:15 a.m., the Lowry City Police Department initiated a pursuit after a driver refused to stop. The vehicle fled northbound into Henry County, reaching speeds of approximately 95 mph.
Before the pursuit approached the busy intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 7, deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, alongside a trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, quickly coordinated a plan to prevent the fleeing vehicle from entering the intersection and endangering motorists.
Detective Kubilus and the trooper successfully deployed spike strips across the roadway at 13 Highway and Calvird Drive. The driver stopped as her vehicle approached the patrol vehicles and spike strips. She was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was transported to the St. Clair County Jail, where the original charges related to the pursuit were initiated by the Lowry City Police.
Incidents like this are a reminder that dangerous situations on our highways often unfold in seconds, and they require coordination, communication, and quick decision-making between agencies to protect the public.
Today, that teamwork helped bring a situation to a safe end. Great work Lowry City Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, Clinton Missouri Police Department and our staff at the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
