The Wall That Heals: Honoring Terry Rice

Today we honor and remember Terry Francis Rice. Terry was drafted into the Army on January 30, 1968. He took basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and further Army schooling in Ft. Benning, Georgia. Terry served one tour of duty in Vietnam with the C Battery, 6/14th Artillery, US Army Vietnam. He earned the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Sharp Shooter M14 Badge and the Expert M-16 Rifle Badge. Terry was discharged on September 11, 1969. What Terry said about the Vietnam War was he fought in it and fought with it. Sadly Terry passed away on May 27, 2025.
On a more personal note, another Vietnam Veteran that knew Terry commented that Terry was very private about his time and experiences in Nam. We knew him as a great guy, he always had a big smile on his face. He was always upbeat and professional at work and in the many community activities. Volunteering so often to support anywhere he could serve the needs of others. Terry's membership and contributions to service organizations like the Lions Club, VFW, etc were invaluable. His family was on top of his list of the joys in his life. While giving so much to others he cherished his wife, kids and grandkids. His positive attitude will always be on the minds of the loved ones and any that had the opportunity to know him.

The Wall That Heals, a 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam Veteran Memorial in Washington DC will be on display in Bates County this Spring. Learn more here https://thewallthathealsbatescounty2026.org/
