Resources availabe for aging Missourians

Missouri is aging and the data confirms what many communities are already experiencing.
St. Louis County has the highest total population of residents age 65 and older, with 190,319 older adults, while Worth County has the fewest, with 510 older adults.
Fifty-four counties in Missouri now have populations where at least 20 percent of residents are age 65 or older. Hickory County ranks highest, with 32.35 percent of residents age 65+, while Pulaski County has the lowest share at 9.65 percent.
MU Extension works statewide to support healthy aging through education and community-based programs that help older adults stay active, connected and independent. From strength training and cognitive health to caregiver support and chronic disease management, our work meets Missourians where they are, whether in rural towns or urban centers.
As Missouri’s population continues to age, MU Extension remains committed to honoring older adults and partnering with communities to support quality of life at every stage.
