The Depot Taco Salad Lunch will be Wednesday, August 12, 2026 serving 11:00-1:00. The taco salad with toppings, drinks and a variety of homemade cakes all for $10, will be served at the historic MKT Railroad Depot. You may dine in or carry out. All proceeds are used by the Appleton City Museum for the maintenance of the Depot, Historic WH Appleton Library, Moore School and Museum. Please join them as Appleton City Landmarks Restoration continues to celebrate its 40 year anniversary this year.
The AC Public Library has some fun upcoming events for adults and kids. August 12, at 4:30-6:30 for Adult's Craft Night, they will be painting your very own barn quilts. Stop by the library to sign up. August 17 at 11:00, they will be hosting a story hour and back to school bash with free school supplies through the Center of Human Services and other fun activities for the kids. Stop by for information about our Adult's Book Club and their book for September, The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood.
Join AC Elementary School for an Open House 5:00-7:00 p.m. August 20 to check off all the back to school boxes. Drop off school supplies, meet your child's teacher, snap that back to school photo, complete enrollment paperwork and grab a hot dog for dinner.
Golden Apples will meet 5:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13 at Farmhouse Kitchen. This week's menu is fish and fries. Please bring sides and desserts to go with the main dish. Come for the fellowship, enjoy the food and stay for the fun.
St. Clair County Historical Society invites you to join them for “Unique Medal of Honor Recipients” 7:00 p.m. August 13 at the St. Clair County Museum. Wade Harris, a longtime historian of military history will speak on individuals who earned the medal. Free refreshments will be served.

The Annual Labor Day Picnic at Immaculate Conception Parish (606 Kansas Ave., Montrose) will be held on Monday, September 7. The menu includes fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, dressing, green beans, slaw, bread & butter pickles, and homemade pie. All this is only $15 for adults, and $10 for children age 5-10 and preschoolers eat free. The all-you-can-eat dinner is served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the basement of St. Mary’s School, which is handicap accessible. Outdoor tent seating and carry-out are also available. There is a huge country store open from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. There will be corn hole, kid’s activities and bingo open at 11:00 a.m. A homemade pie auction will begin at 3:30 p.m. followed by the cash and quilt raffles.

Appleton City Carousel is open weekends through Labor Day, Friday-Sunday 4:00-7:00 p.m. It will close if inclement weather is happening. The AC Fall City Wide Garage Sale dates have been set for September 25 & 26. Permit details will be posted at a later date.
Rural food and farm businesses in St. Clair, Henry, and Bates Counties may be eligible for grants of up to $25,000 through the Harvest to Market grant program. Funding can support projects that expand access to markets and strengthen local food systems. The program is through the Heartland Food Business Coalition and New Growth.
