1877 B.M. Bales, proprietor of Bales Saloon, is fine $5 & costs for keeping a gambling house, Butler.
1880 The railroad depot in Adrian is nearly complete.
1882 The editor of the Bates Co Record newspaper writes "There are more murders, robberies, suicides, incendiary fires,, & fights occurring at this time, throughout the county, than were ever before heard at any time."
1895 The Bates Co Fair begins, Rich Hill.
1904 Hume Mayor Curtis reports a 9 inch rainfall in 24 hours.
1931 The Osage Valley Electric Coop is organized.
1933 While the state of Missouri votes to repeal prohibition, Bates Co votes on the dry side.
1989 Don Ghere Sale Company initiates its new computerized in-ring scales at today's livestock auction.
1998 Claude Hornback, of Rich Hill, wins $25,000 in todays Show Me lottery.
1999 The Adrian City Council announces the community ambulance service will be discontinued, by the state, because of not having enough qualified staff.
