The Harrisonville High School Students of the Month for September are Grace Becker and Caden Banks. Becker and Banks were nominated by high school staff for the honor.
Becker is the daughter of Nathan Becker, Tyler LeClair, and Adam LeClair. She is involved in Student Council, DECA, National Honor Society, Traction, Peer Navigators, and the Silver Sensations Dance Team. Her leadership roles include serving as Student Council executive president, DECA finance president, National Honor Society treasurer, Traction social media manager, and Silver Sensations co-captain.
Becker’s honors include ranking in the top 15% of her class, earning Principal’s Honor Roll, and receiving academic all-conference honors for three years. She has earned an academic letter, varsity dance letter, Student Council letter, and DECA letter. Becker is also a two-time DECA state qualifier and was selected to attend Missouri Girls State.
Outside of school, Becker is involved in competitive dance at The Movement and Co. and works as a lifeguard for the City of Harrisonville. She also enjoys traveling, dancing, baking, and spending time with friends, family, and her boyfriend.
After high school, Becker plans to attend an undecided college, where she will continue dancing and major in biology with plans to pursue a career as a dermatologist.
Banks is the son of Blake and Britney Banks. He is involved in track and field, football, and Peer Navigators. His leadership roles include serving as football team captain.
Banks’ honors include ranking in the top 15% of his class and earning academic all-conference honors in track and field for three years. He has also earned academic all-conference and academic all-state honors in football. Banks is a two-time all-district selection and an all-conference selection in discus and earned all-conference honorable mention as an offensive lineman in football.
Outside of school, Banks works at Harrisonville Sonic. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, and trying new foods.
After high school, Banks plans to attend Kansas State University and major in chemical engineering. After college, he hopes to get married, buy his dream car, and, in his words, “flex on all the haters.”
