When officers arrived, they located a subject who had been shot by another subject inside the residence. Officers were able to recover the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. During the investigation, officers determined the firearm had been defaced. Additional evidence led investigators to determine the firearm had also been reported stolen in an earlier incident.
The victim was transported to an undisclosed hospital for further medical treatment.
The suspect, identified as Frank Hostetter-Bailey, was still on scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody by Nevada Police.
The Vernon County Prosecuting Attorney has filed the following charges against Hostetter.
Assault in the 2nd Degree — Class D Felony
Armed Criminal Action — Unclassified Felony
Unlawful Use of a Weapon — Discharge Into a Home, Motor Vehicle or Other Transportation — Class E Felony
Unlawful Use of a Weapon — While Intoxicated/Loaded Weapon — Class E Felony
The court has set bond at $25,000 cash only.
