Raymond E. Cornett, age 73, Garnett, Kansas passed away Friday September 18, 2026. He was born on May 21, 1953 in Paola, Kansas the son of Delbert and Joan Mendell Cornett. He graduated from Prairie View High School. He was united in marriage to Carol Diane Sweetwood on June 27, 1975. Raymond worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Operator's Union Local #101. He enjoyed watching westerns, especially Gun Smoke. He took a country cruise every day and visited with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carol D. Cornett. Raymond is survived by two sons, Bill Cornett and wife Teresa, and Russell Cornett, three brothers, Glenn Cornett and wife LaDonna, Perry Cornett and wife Melinda, and Randi Cornett and wife Linda, a sister, Mary Michelle and husband Mark, five grandchildren, Caitlin, Kimberly, Austin, Timothy, and Preston, five great grandchildren, Derek, Owen, Saylor, Onyx, and Raylee, and one on the way.
Funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Schneider Funeral Home, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery.
