Adrian's Harlee Newkirk enlists with U.S. Army

Harlee Newkirk, daughter of Matthew and Hannah Newkirk of Adrian has pledged to serve her country by joining the US Army

In her own words:

My journey with Army ROTC started when I came to Pittsburg State University and decided that I wanted to challenge myself, grow as a leader, and serve my country. Since joining ROTC, I have participated in physical training, leadership development, field training, and events with other cadets. As I progressed through the program, I worked toward meeting the requirements to become a contracted Cadet.

Contracting is an important step because it officially commits me to completing the ROTC program and working toward becoming an Army Officer. After completing my degree and ROTC requirements, I will commission as a Second Lieutenant and serve for a minimum of 8 years after graduating from Pitt. From there, I plan to serve in the Army National Guard while pursuing my career in exercise science and personal training. I am excited about the opportunities ahead and grateful for the people in ROTC who have helped me get to this point. ROTC has already taught me a lot about discipline, leadership, and commitment, and I look forward to continuing to grow throughout the rest of college and beyond.

Thanks in advance your service, Harlee.
