Obituary - Wilma Hubbard

Wilma L. Hubbard, 74, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to Lily's House in Adrian and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Atkinson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 142, Adrian, MO 64720.

Wilma was born on January 26, 1952, in Adrian, MO, a daughter of Kenneth Earl and Chloe (Elliott) Hubbard. She spent her early years in Adrian and was a 1970 graduate of Adrian High School. Growing up surrounded by five brothers made Wilma incredibly tough, but it also helped shape her deeply caring and protective nature. She was fiercely devoted to her brothers and her family, and that same love and devotion carried into her life as a mother.

Wilma had a genuine love for animals of all kinds. Whether they were farm animals, family pets, or wildlife, animals always held a special place in her life. She also enjoyed gardening and took great pleasure in the flowers she planted and cared for around her home. Throughout her working years, Wilma held a variety of jobs, including positions with Western Electric, Cassco, and Aventis Pharmaceuticals in Kansas City before her retirement.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Denny Hubbard. She is survived by her sons: Jeremy (Rose) Smith, Harrisonville, MO; and Jed Smith, Adrian, MO; four brothers: Steve (Donna) Hubbard, Paul Hubbard, Clay (Tammy) Hubbard, and David Hubbard, all of Adrian, MO; her grandson, Levi Smith; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. To her family, Wilma was much more than a name in an obituary. She was a Sister, a Mom, a Grammy, and, to so many, simply “Aunt Wilma.” She loved her family deeply, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.#MidAmericaLive
