Adrian fire under investigation
A fire reported on July 27 in Adrian is under investigation by the the Adrian Fire Department, Adrian Police and the State Fire Marshal's office. The residence occupied by the Enos family at 1st and Virginia streets, caught fire in the garage and was quickly extinguished. The exact cause of the fire is unknown; the official report is expected to be released soon.

Obituary - Wanda Lavon Beeler
Wanda Lavon Beeler, 88 of Basehor, KS, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Tonganoxie Nursing Center in Tonganoxie, KS. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7 at the Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Friday, August 6 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.

Miami school tax levy hearing
The Miami R-1 School District will hold a tax levy public hearing for the 2010-2011 school year on Monday, August 16 at 7 pm in the FACS room at the school. The regular Board of Education meeting will immediately follow the hearing.

Hog Roast August 14th
Come one, come all to St. Patrick's Church Old Fashioned Summertime Hog Roast on August 14th. Dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The meal includes pork, coleslaw, baked beans, red potato salad, dessert and drink. A Beer Garden will be avilable. There will be Basket Bingo and Children's Games. Prices are $10 (11 and up) , $5 (3-10) and Under 2 eat free. Carryout available.
St. Patrick's Church is located at 400 West Nursery St. in Butler.
