Optimist Bingo pot growing
The Adrian Optimist progressive bingo pot is at $3,750 tonight at the Optimist building on Business 71 South in Adrian. Games start at 7 pm.
Adrian Schools ready for new year
It's been said that all good things must come to an end and summer is no exception. Teachers, faculty and students at Adrian R5 schools are gearing up for what is anticipated to be a great year when classes officially kick off on August 19th.

Power of the Past Tractor show coming in September
Antique tractor and engine enthusiasts from all around the area are getting ready for the16th Annual Antique Engine and Tractor Show September 10, 11, & 12 in Ottawa, KS. This year's event will be held in shady Forest Park and will be featuring Ford tractors and Cushman engines. Along with the show, this year's activities will also include a ladies Shoe Throw and Skillet Toss; Kiddie Tractor Pull; a large auction of items donated by area businesses and the honorary Parade of Power around the park.
Vistiors may also see rope making, attend the craft show and flea market, garden tractor pull and more. Of course a wide variety of good food will be available on the grounds.
Attendees may also register to win a nicely restored Ford 8N tractor. For more information visit the power of the past web site.

Four seriously injured in accident near Rich Hill
Four persons, including two children were seriously injured in a single car accident East of Rich Hill on route B, 6/10 of a mile West of county road 7305 yesterday afternoon. According to the report, a 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven by Jeffery S. Tenpenny, 45, of Nevada was Westbound when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a fence and overturned, ejecting all four occupants. The children, Jordan M. Heard, 12, and Skylar S. Watts, 7, were transported to Children's Mercy hospital. Tenpenny, along with passenger Lorinda M. Lukenbill, 55, were both transported to Research Medical Center for treatment. The report states that no one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.

Obituary - Wanda Lavon Beeler
Wanda Lavon Beeler, 88 of Basehor, KS, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Tonganoxie Nursing Center in Tonganoxie, KS. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7 at the Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Friday, August 6 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Wanda was born October 24, 1921 in Oskaloosa, MO, the daughter of John Alan and Candas E. (Harrison) Goforth. She had lived in the Archie and Adrian, MO area before moving to Clinton, MO in 1968. She moved to the Kansas City area in 1980 and had lived in Basehor, KS for the last 10 years. She had worked as a CNA for Delmar Gardens in Lenexa, KS for six years before retiring in 1990.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Orval Beeler and Stanley Drury and one brother, David Goforth. She is survived by one son, Orval Dean Beeler and his wife, Beverly of Kansas City, MO; two daughters, Stangela Harris and her husband, Michael of Basehor, KS and Brenda Drury-Worthington and her husband, James of Harrisonville, MO; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Obituary - Theresa Rose Ragan
Theresa Rose Ragan, 79 of Adrian, MO died Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Adrian with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the Theresa Ragan Tree Memorial c/o Atkinson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 325, Adrian, MO 64720.
Theresa was born March 3, 1931 in Wilmerding, PA, the daughter of Patrick and Mary Margaret (Markell) Tuiet. She was the youngest of six children, including three brothers and two sisters. Theresa married Joel General Ragan on June 21, 1947 in Mound City, KS, and to this union they had three children, Michael, Patricia and Randy.
Theresa was a devoted member of the Adrian First Baptist Church. She enjoyed her loving family and treasured every moment she had with them.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, J.G. and their grandson, Brian Petty, her parents and brothers and sisters. She will be greatly missed by her children, Michael Ragan and his companion, Kathy Brink, Patricia Smith and her husband, Bobby and Randy Ragan; 9 grandchildren; Kristen Morrow, Megan Cantrell, Tyler and P. J. Ragan, Randelle and Chelsea Ragan, Ky Brink, Jennifer Klinksick and Jessica Skinner; 12 great-grandchildren; Gunnar and Keenan Morrow, Ragan and Nash Hendrix, Izabella Cantrell, Macy and Ella Ragan, Mikinzie Ward, Heidi Osborne, Brody Ragan, Will Klinksick, and Jamison Skinner.
Theresa will be remembered, not only by her family, but the countless friends who were blessed to have known her.
