EMT classes coming to BCMH



Ready for a career change? Like to help people? Bates County Memorial Hospital is offering Emergency Medical Technician classes beginning this Saturday, September 25th. The cost is $675 and a payment plan can be arranged. For more information call the hospital at 660-200-7000.








Comedienne Lizzy Lou coming to Butler

Comedienne Lizzy Lou (Beth Irvin) will be at the Immanuel Baptist Church for a one night performance on Friday, October 1st and is sponsored by Bates County Celebrate Recovery. Lizzy uses her comedy to illustrate the amazing transformation that takes place in your heart and soul when you allow Jesus into your everyday life. Celebrate Recovery teaches that transformation is crucial to permanent recovery. Come and learn more while being entertained by Lizzy Lou. The program starts at 6:30 pm at the Immanuel Baptist Church located at 801 W Dakota in Butler.

Celebrate Recovery is for anyone recovering from alcohol, drugs, abuse, etc. and meets every Friday night at 6:30-9:30 pm at Immanuel. The evening includes worship, Bible Study, small groups and fellowship. The lessons are based upon the Beatitudes taught by Jesus in the gospel of Matthew.

Absentee Ballots Available Now

Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan has announced that absentee ballots are available for the November 2, 2010 General Election.Missourians may cast an absentee ballot at the office of their local election authority, or they may request an absentee ballot through the mail. The absentee ballot application is available for download at http://www.GoVoteMissouri.com. If requesting an absentee ballot by mail, first time voters must provide identification to their local election authority.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 27, and ballots must be received by the local election authority no later than 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 2. Voters may cast an absentee ballot in the office of their local election authority until 5:00 PM on Monday, November 1.
Registered Missouri voters are eligible to vote absentee if they expect to be prevented from going to the polls to vote on Election Day due to:
(1) Absence on Election Day from the jurisdiction of the election authority in which such voter is registered to vote;
(2) Incapacity or confinement due to illness or physical disability, including a person who is primarily responsible for the physical care of a person who is incapacitated or confined due to illness or disability;
(3) Religious belief or practice;
(4) Employment as an election authority, as a member of an election authority, or by an election authority at a location other than such voter's polling place;
(5) Incarceration, provided all qualifications for voting are retained.

THEFT-BUTLER Deputies were dispatched to RT. 3 Butler reference a theft that had occurred sometime over the last thirty days.

DFS ASSIST-Deputies along with Charles Delaney with the Missouri Children's Division responded to Rt. 1 Amsterdam on reported child abuse.

WARRANT EXECUTION-BUTLER Bates County Sheriff Deputies executed a search warrant at a residence located inside Butler city limits, in reference to stolen property and in connection with several burglaries that have occurred in and around Bates County.

WANTED SUBJECT-at approximately 1315 hours, Deputies arrested a male subject on an outstanding Cedar County warrant for a Probation Violation.
THEFT-ADRIAN Deputies were doing a follow up stopped  at residence in Rural Adrian
. Subject stated that on 09/14/2010 someone had gotten into his car and taken the key.
THEFT-ADRIAN While doing a follow up on a separate case deputies  made contact with the Rural Adrian residence. While I was speaking with subject  she stated that her daughter  had a speaker stolen out of her vehicle on 09/14/2010. At that time I asked to speak with the victim.

Obituary - Dorothy Lorene Bayless


Funeral services for Dorothy Bayless will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Sweetwater Tabernacle Church in Rich Hill, Missouri with Pastor Carl Covey officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 10-11 a.m. at the Sweetwater Tabernacle Church. Burial in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, Missouri. Contributions to the Sweetwater Tabernacle Church. Services under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) Butler, Missouri.

Dorothy Lorene Bayless, age 79 of Rich Hill, Missouri died Monday, September 20, 2010 in Rich Hill. She was born August 29, 1931 to Troy and Pearl Evans Wilson in Humphrey, Arkansas.

Dorothy is survived by five sons, James Harms and wife Cheri of Sedalia, Missouri, David Allyson and wife Linda of Grain Valley, Missouri, Gary Harms and wife Maria of Topeka, Kansas, Lawrence Bayless of Butler, Missouri and Michael Bayless of Rich Hill, Missouri; three daughters, Pamela Storms and husband Allen of Orleans, Indiana, Hope Wright and husband Leroy of Wyandotte, Kansas and Donna Rich and husband Denny of Butler, Missouri; two brothers, Lewis Wilson and wife Bessie and Tommy Wilson and wife Juanita all of Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister, Doris Tackett of Aubrey, Arkansas; and 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald Eugene Bayless in 2004; one brother, Eugene Wilson; one grandson, Earl Burris; and one great-grandson, Tyler Harms.
