Obituary - Boyd Borland


Boyd W. Borland, 90 of Independence and formerly of Butler, passed away April 13 at Village House in Lee’s Summit.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Norfleet Baptist Church, 5512 Norfleet Rd., Kansas City, Mo.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM prior to services.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler.
Mr. Borland will lie in state during the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday, April 25 at Mullinax Funeral Home in Butler, (660) 679-0009 where friends may view and sign the register if they wish.

New business coming to Butler


April 23rd will be the official opening of Ozark Shores Rentals, a rent to own store already established in Bolivar, Warsaw, Clinton and soon in Butler. Home for Ozark Shores Rentals will be the old Movie Gallery building on West 52 highway. 

Ozark Shores Rentals offers rent to own furniture, appliances and electronics with 120 days same-as-cash financing. The new Butler store will be one of 10 planned to be open by the end of the year.

Bates County Live will be on hand to cover the store opening on April 23rd.

Bear Backer golf tournament set for May 29th

The Butler Bear Backers golf tournament is set for Sunday afternoon, May 29th at the Butler Country Club. This second annual golf tournament is open to all- bring a team, a friend or come by yourself and help raise money for Butler student athletes. To play, a team of four will donate a total of $300 ($75 each) or if you're not a player, you can sponsor a hole for just $100, with a sign for your name or business placed at the hole.
