The Butler Fire Department is in route to a reported mobile home with smoke coming from it on east Dakota street, a mile or so east of Butler. Use caution if traveling through the area.

Obituary - Don Stotmeister

Funeral services for Don Stotmeister will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Prairie City, Missouri with Pastor Michael Manz officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Burial in Zion Luther Cemetery, Prairie City, Missouri. Contributions to Zion Lutheran Church or M.D. Anderson Cancer Research.

Donald Wayne Stotmeister, age 76 of Butler, Missouri died Friday, June 10, 2011 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. He was born December 17, 1934 to Bernard and Crace Cewe Stotmeister in Geneseo, Illinois.

Don is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruby Stotmeister of Butler, Missouri; one son, Bryan Stotmeister and wife Tali Neumann of Sugarland, Texas; two daughters, Kim Jacobs and husband Dennis and Carla Bettels and husband Dale all of Butler, Missouri; one brother, Richard Stotmeister of Silvis, Illinois; two sisters, Charlotte Stotmeister of Wichita, Kansas and Clara Ann Bentley of Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Brandon and wife Ronielle, Adam and wife Kara, Christopher, Braden, Amanda and husband Jeremy, Kathryn, Ally and Bryn; and three great-grandchildren, Blake, Tyler and Avery. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bernard; and one sister, Marilyn Stot.

Ernest Lloyd Brazeal, 81, Adrian, MO, died Friday, June 10, 2011 in Peculiar, MO. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 13 at the chapel.

Inbound rain threatens Relay for Life event

Rain and thunderstorms are making their way towards us from the Kansas side and appears we may get wet. However the bulk of severe weather remains to the south us- a tornado touchdown was reported near Fort Scott Ks, a short time ago.
