Bates robotics camp video goes viral
(BUTLER, MO – July 1, 2011) - A short two-minute video featuring the Bates County Robotics Camp held recently at the Adrian Optimist Community Building is getting quite a bit of air time.
According to Alan J. Mundey, Bates County 4-H Youth Specialist, who can be seen commenting on the camp, the video has been seen not only locally on Fox 4 Kansas City, but also on tv stations in Paducah, KY; Medford, OR; Greenville, MS; Zanesville, OH; Salisbury, MD; Springfield, MO; Meridian, MS; and in several other television markets. The segment has also aired on RFD TV. The video was prepared by Kent Faddis, TV News Producer, and his video crew from the University of Missouri Cooperative Media Group. Faddis has the ability to track where and when the video is airing.
The robotics camp video is also available on the social media website You Tube and can be seen at the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOhHL8bFN1I;robo. Mundey states, “I have been surprised to receive emails and facebook posts from acquaintances that have seen the video. It’s exciting to know that so many folks are getting to know about our robotics camp and its tie-in with precision agriculture.”

Obituary - Steven Knox
Steven Eugene Knox, 58, Kansas City, MO, died Monday, June 27, 2011 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Adrian.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Knox. He is survived by his wife, Patti Ann Knox and his mother, Roberta Knox, both of Kansas City, MO; sisters-in-law, Janice Highley and her husband, Bob, Butler, MO and Nancy Bowman and her husband, Jim, Adrian, MO.
He will be sadly missed by all.
Accident shuts down 71 highway this morning
A two car accident just south of Archie closed the north bound lanes lanes of 71 highway for about 45 minutes this morning. Reportedly, one of the vehicles caught fire. Occupants of the vehicles were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
An ambulance making a patient transfer was held up in the stopped traffic and had to make a diversion around the scene.

Obituary - Hunter Michael Kenney Koenig
Hunter Michael Kenney Koenig, 16, Nevada , MO, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Freeman Health System West, Joplin , MO , due to an automobile accident. He was born January 26, 1995, in Nevada , MO, to Bracken Wade Koenig and Kia Nicole Kenney.
Hunter was born and spent his life here in Nevada just completing his sophomore year of high school. He attended the Pentecostal Church . Hunter loved to work on cars and also liked hunting, fishing and mudding.
Survivors include his mother, Kia Kenney, Nevada, MO; his father, Bracken Koenig, Louisburg, KS; four brothers, Brayden, Bryce, Bobby, and Holten; three sisters, Madalyn, Harper, and Kariel; maternal grandfather, Mike Kenney, Butler, MO; maternal grandmother, Donna Kenney, Nevada, MO, and paternal grandmother, Debbie Koenig, Rich Hill, MO. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Max Koenig. Hunter was blessed with another family (The Beisly’s) that loved and accepted him as their own.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada , MO, with Pastor Shelby Brandt officiating. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery , Rich Hill, Missouri. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, June 29, 2011, and friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada , MO 64772.
