Clinton, MO – State Representative Scott Largent, R-Clinton, filed for the 31st Senatorial District on Tuesday in Jefferson City. The newly drawn 31st Senatorial District is comprised of Barton, Bates, Cass, Henry, St. Clair and Vernon counties.

Largent has been a small business owner for nearly a decade and knows what it takes to create jobs in a tough economic climate. He has been appointed the Chairman of the Children and Families Committee and Vice Chairman of the Banking and Financial Institutions Committee. He also serves on the Veterans Committee and is a member of the Missouri Military Preparedness and Enhancement Commission. Largent is also a strong supporter of pro-life, pro-agriculture and pro-2nd Amendment issues.

Largent, a common-sense conservative, has also announced that Gene Molendorp of Cass County will be serving as Campaign Co-Chairman of Largent’s Senate Campaign Committee. “I am overwhelmed by the amount of support I have already received,” Largent said. “With people like Gene Molendorp coming on board we are building a strong team of supporters from the six-county district.”

“Scott Largent is exactly the kind of leader we need fighting for us in the State Senate,” State Representative Chris Molendorp said. “I am proud to support Scott’s candidacy because of his commitment to the commonsense values we share.”

State Senator David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, State Senator Mike Parsons, R-Bolivar, State Representative Chris Molendorp, R-Belton, State Representative Rick Brattin, R-Harrisonville, State Representative Mike McGhee, R-Odessa, State Representative Sandy Crawford, R-Buffalo, have all endorsed Scott Largent for State Senate.

“Missouri needs leaders like Scott with real-world business experience to help get our economy back on track and our people back to work,” Senator Mike Parson said.

Largent and his wife Leslie have been married for 19 years and have three children, Jesse, Taylor and Seth. Largent earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and his Master’s Degree in Public Services Administration from the University of Central Missouri. CRP sign up deadline April 6th

Program can help farmers add habitat to cropland while protecting soil and water quality

Over the past 26 years, the federal Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) has created millions of acres of upland and wetland habitat for quail, pheasants, ducks, deer, turkeys and a wide array of nongame wildlife by offering payments to farmers for taking highly erodible farmland out of production. Efforts continue with the USDA’s and Missouri Farm Service’s (MFS) recent announcement of a CRP general signup March 12 - April 6.

Our Energy Future

From the desk of Senator David Pearce

Energy costs, security and consumption are on the minds of Missourians every day. We see the effects of poor energy policy every time we fill up our vehicles at the local service station. Increases in fuel costs drive up prices for transportation fees and are passed along to consumers in every product we purchase. A way to combat this issue and to work toward becoming more energy independent is to increase the supply of fuel we produce in North America.

Recently, I sponsored Senate Concurrent Resolution 21 that encourages our federal delegation to continue development and construction on the Keystone XL pipeline extension in order to utilize our country’s vast resources
