John O'Bannon memorial set for May 30th

The untimely sudden passing of Judge John O’Bannon sent shock throughout our community. Therefore, the community is getting together to honor Judge O’Bannon’s memory on:

Wednesday afternoon, May 30, 2012 at 4:30 pm
West Side of the Bates County Courthouse where a tree will be planted in his memory

Immediately thereafter at the Bates County Elks Lodge located west and north of the courthouse at 1000 Elks Drive, where we will share our best Judge O’Bannon stories – those with the glasses up and those with them pulled down on his nose!

Memorial Contributions should be made to:
Judge O’Bannon Memorial Fund in care of
Senator Harold L. Caskey, PO Box 45, Butler, MO 64730,

Or the Adrian Bank

These funds will be used to cover the expense of the tree planting memorial and to purchase updated furnishing for the small Bates County Courtroom.

We ask that you extend this invitation to those you know who were friends of John.

A quick note about obituaries...

We'd like to get the word out that we will gladly publish all obits that our reading public would like to see on Bates County Live. While we keep in touch with local funeral homes, we sometimes miss getting obits with local ties that have services being held elsewhere...

So feel free to contact us with the name of the deceased and funeral home, and we'll get the info directly from them. We cannot accept obits sent to us by individuals.

Again, thanks for reading our web site and as always, feel free to send us any news, news tips or obituary information any time at bateswire@hotmail.com or call 913-669-5848.
