Small Steps to Build the Economy

From the desk of Senator David Pearce

Navigating the obstacle course of a downturned economy is difficult, to say the least. I know many people in the 31st District and across the state are preparing for back-to-school shopping and the crunch on the wallet that comes with it. However, Missouri does offer a program that can help alleviate at least some of the stress that comes with sending kids back to school.

The Back to School Sales Tax Holiday, as the name implies, is a three-day period during which certain back-to-school purchases are exempt from sales tax. The dates for the 2012 event are Friday, Aug. 3, through Sunday, Aug. 5. Items typically included are clothing, school supplies, computers, and some computer accessories.
